PHOENICIA. Tyre. 126/5 BC-AD 65/6. Shekel (Silver, 23 mm, 14.26 g, 12 h), CY 130 = AD 4/5. Laureate head of Melkart to right, lion skin tied around neck. Rev. TYPOY IEPAΣ [KAI AΣ]YΛOY Eagle standing left on prow, wings closed and with palm frond behind; to left, ΡΛ above club; to right, KP above monogram of ΟΔΦC; between eagle's legs, 𐤁 (B in Punic). DCA Tyre 466 var. (C; same obverse die, but 𐤀 between eagle's legs). HGC 10, 357. RPC I 4663. An interesting variety with an unrecorded Punic letter between the eagle's legs. Struck from a worn obverse die and with numerous small marks, otherwise, fine.
